"Reveler". For me there's something awkward about this word as it rolls off the tongue.
Do you guys agree? I simply am not completely sold on this representing our identity as a band. Not saying a band name needs to make sense at all, but it certainly should be catchy and easy to say.
I know there are at least a couple members of the muleciety here that pride themselves on their skills with then pen. There are also members that pride themselves on their skills with a ham sandwich. Or former members, at least.
Any help from you pen guys I mentioned before? Here are some samples of stuff I was coming up with....
The Echo Verse The Aventine The Informatics
"When the dog finds the bomb, how long does him take to dismantle it?" - Ali G
Hey which one am I? I always thought I was quite handy with a pen and a ham sandwich... both at once too...
Yeah, Reveler always struck me as a strange name.. nothing really wrong with it, but like you said, it doesn't really seem like it captures the sort of identity that the band wants to be....
Its kind of hard to pick a band name: one, its hard to come up with something that sounds cool right away. I'm sure plenty of people thought Led Zeppelin was a stupid name until the band started to rule the world. And I'm sure people thought Sufjan Stevens was a ridiculous name too
Two, its kind of a chicken and the egg sort of thing: the band name sort of needs to reflect the type of music you are making, but the music you are making is only going to evolve as you get further down the road, but how do you come up with a name for that? Its almost like the name you pick almost affects the music you make (or at least the music that the general public will buy into under that name). For example, with a name like Metallica or Creeping Death or something, you are pretty much limiting yourself as to what type of music anyones ever going to buy from you - Metallica could never put out a bluegrass album, because everyone expects a certain sound from them.
Even look at a band like Death Cab For Cutie: It took me a while to even give them a chance because I expected a much harder sound based on the name. Even now that I know the band, there still an unsettled sense that the name doesnt quite fit.
Anyways, I know you asked for my help and all I have done is just complicated the issue. I'll try to think of something and see what happens. My initial reaction is that I like the first two names: Aventine is def. pretty cool... Echo Verse sounds like a new wave band or something (or maybe I'm just thinking Echo and the Bunnymen - which is really a ridiculous name)

Yeah I like Aventine as well, but I feel maybe there should be another word along with it or something...
Nick made the comparison with Echo and the Bunnymen, too.
Our current name isn't terrible... I hear band names like "BRoken Monday" and it really puts things into perspective... it just could be better I think. I just feel like there's some completely awesome band name out there that is just waiting to be roped in by our imagination. I hate thinking that and all the while going by "Reveler".

Yeesh that cover is bad. A bad photoshopping of some bobo font over a shitty blurred photo that someone probably thought looked effective and artistic. Hey that draws a strangely accurate parallel with his music! Whoa! Good cover!

Didn't Radiohead get their name from a Talking Heads song? I always thought that name was badass. Maybe we should use a Radiohead song... Punchup at a Wedding?

Haha, I almost made a Broken Monday joke too. That is as bad as it gets.. name wise and music wise. Its like they are trying to be interesting and deep when they are not really interesting or deep people.
Sort of like Matchbox Twenty "I believe the world is coming to an end, I guess we better pretend." What garbage

Plus, it kind of looks like Broad Street at night... which, if anyone has ever been there will tell you, is hardly worthy of a photo

That would be an awesome band name, but sounds too much like Panic at the Disco unfortunately now.
I got it...Call the band Myxamatosis.
